ZDAY FLASH MOB London Appeal for volunteers

One of the simplest ways to get this set up is to put an event up on the front page, specifying Z-Day London but nothing more precise, and anyone who wants to be told where to go when can give their number to you privately through it, then you send them all a text at the appropriate time.

One of the train stations would be great! Euston maybe? Like you say Alex, it depends on how many people can participate. I'd say for those who are travelling from outside of london, who aren't particularly familiar with getting about there, it'd be an idea to have those meet up somewhere or something?

Btw, from listening to the Teamspeak meeting from yesterday... I have an idea for a flashmob. (this was mentioned by someone in the meeting but...) maybe we could have a group of us hold hands and make a circle with blindfolds on? I dunno... something that will represent coming together... i thought the blindfold idea was a good suggestion from the person in the meet :thumbup: yeh... :roll:

I'm new to this site - but I've been a proponent of this movement since I first heard of it about 3 years ago. So firstly, hello to all.

I'm based in London, so I'd like to join in. Numbers don't look too amazing at the moment, but I'll see if I can get others involved (and I'd advise you not only turn up yourselves, but bring your friends / family).

While i understand that people want to promote the zeitgeist movement in any way they can, i feel that this kind of flash mob event is juvenile and ultimately pointless. I don't see how it will bring more people into the movement. If anything it will achieve the opposite effect and simply annoy people going about their daily business. This kind of publicity hungry action does nothing to promote ideas in a mature, logical way. I fear this event is just going to look like a bunch of people hungry for attention. The Zeitgeist Movement deserves more. If anyone can educate me as to how this event will benefit the movement please do. I am not trying to shoot people down for trying to make a difference, I just don't see what positive effect a flash mob action can have. It all seems a bit too much like an outdated form of protest which has proven itself to be ineffective in the past.

So where are we at with this idea then? I'm coming down from the Midlands that Saturday and need to know what time and place to arrive in London.
I'd prefer to distribute leaflets and converse with the public rather than "flashmob". But I'll go along with whatever is decided.

If nothing else, it will be pleasant to meet up with some of you lovely people and walk to the lecture together.

The first post says we need to know "THE EXACT NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS AT LEAST 10 DAYS BEFORE THE EVENT". That doesn't seem very likely. Why would we need that anyway? Anti-terror laws that prevent flashmobs without police consultation perhaps?

London Z-day Flash Mob Plans

We will all meet up at South Bank, outside Tate Modern near the millennium bridge 10am. The closest tube & national rail station is Blackfriars, which is a 9 minute walk to Southbank over the millennium bridge.

We’ll wait for about 15-20 minutes for everyone to turn up then perform one of the acts that we are proposing to do and then move on to another popular area.

Frozen mob
Freeze for 5 minutes to grab attention while others hand out flyers and repeat a few times at various popular places. Will be a good chance to show off your zeitgeist t-shirt if you have one!

Zeitgeist logo puzzle poster
An 18 piece poster will be held up in a form of a jigsaw to create the zeitgeist logo. The rest of the mob can point and freeze. On large steps this could look effective.

2 or 3 of us will film the acts and members’ willing to explain what is z-day all about and what appeals to them about the Zeitgeist Movement and Venus Project’s direction.

We’ll have UK ZM flyers to hand out and maybe London Z-day lecture flyers depending on how many tickets are left to be sold. We’ll aim to get to the venue of the z-day lecture for 12.30pm.

We would like as many people as possible, the more people we have the more effective it will be for attracting attention. Even if you have friends that are local, that are not even in the movement but would like to take part, all would be welcome.

Does anyone have any suggestions or queries they would like to add?

like get 8 people to hold each others arms, while othesr stand with there back on a higher platform to the 8 members holding arms and falling backwards while the members catch em? this will show TRUST for example..

Nanos i am also not too fond of the freezing idea, but since i am new i did not say anything, t-mobile did it on massive scale for promotion and every one knows of there add so most people will not think it's original...

Thanks for the links to the videos posted here, just watched them. The Japanese stunt is a bit extreme, especially the handling of an innocent bystander who could press charges, though the ones who "ran for their lives" did crack me up. Otherwise it looks like fun - in case the 300 huddle is considered, I even have two spare brollies, if anyone needs one...

I am already on the list, though yesterday I had no idea yet of what a flashmob could be. But I do like the idea of quick short bursts of action (or inaction) - that`s what the Huns did against the Roman Empire in the old days, with considerable effect, until it gradually collapsed.

Only one question - where do I get a ZDay t-shirt? If I ordered it now, it could even arrive in time.

Midnitoker - Alex C was going to get some t-shirts done but wont have them for the flashmob - he'll have them at the lecture after.

i think that would make a good youtube clip/ viral. There are a couple of locations we can do this on the south bank.

we're not going to be able to get hundreds down, but if we can make a few peoples' heads turn, and come and ask questions, then i'll be happy.

The weather is looking great for Saturday with sunny spells, but it will still be a little chilly. I’m wearing a jumper underneath my zeitgeist t-shirt and I’ll also be wearing a fleece so I can wrap it around my waist while I’m being filmed or photograph. Just thought it sounded better than covering up the t-shirt with a big coat.

After the Millennium Bridge we head for the National Film Theatre then off to Waterloo Station.

For those who are bringing cameras, can you please bring your data cables so I can gather all the footage up and create a cool video at a later date.
