Dougie Mallette does a damn good job of presenting this even with a tough crowd: http://dotsub.com/view/6d679820-7e99-4df7-b41d-5c9c3c59e744

"Ethical/Ecological/Fair-Trade" products that just don't quite cut it.

I just saw something that I felt I had to have a go at when I got a newsletter from a popular online shop, ethicalsuperstore.com.
What they were trying to sell was what they called 'fair-trees'; basically fir trees cut down by a fair-trade approved business and delivered to people's doors around the UK in time for the annual consumption-fest.
Here's the weblog mentioning it, it seems they're ok with the comment being up there for now.

I don't know if you do, but I approve of making the occasional reality check on modern wannabe-hippies to stop them buying crap like this, this, this and so many other wasteful trinkets that I could mention, just so long as you don't over-do it and annoy the people trying to turn a profit.
I reckon something as dumb as that supposedly 'ethical' mass waste of forest was just asking for it though.
