Heritage

Hi all- sorry I know I'm new to the forums, and should probably post in the inevitable introductions section first, but I'm kinda on the fly this next couple of weeks-

Basically I've been asked what would happen to heritage buildings and sites under the Zeitgeist/Venus Project? The question was raised to me by a Heritage student, and I know the plan is to knock down the cities and rebuild... so what WOULD happen to those buildings/sites with that policy in mind? Does anyone know?

Things like historical sites

Things like historical sites could be preserved for educational purposes, so people can be shown how we used to live before transitioning toward a resource based economy. I see no danger or problems in preserving things like this because there is a useful reason why they could be kept. The difference between the system we have today and an RBE is that things in an RBE will be kept or preserved for a reason, rather than to just promote a given heritage or tradition without any educational, socially relevant basis. Many things today are unfortunately kept in place and provide no real social relevance at all. I'm kind of going off on a tangent here so I'll stop - but I think I've tried to answer your question as best as I can.

I think that is one suggestion put forward, but not necessarly THE plan of action..

Often many cities are placed in my view in the wrong locations from the point of view of aspects like food risks, as they was built in the days when access to water and shipping was of high importance.

We might well consider new cities being built in more sensible locations and as such, no need to tear down old cities at all, not until or if their buildings become unused for some time I imagine.
